How do I know if a car insurance company is reliable?

I am looking through ads in a Pennysaver, and I see a lot of car insurance ads for $15 and $17 a month. One of the companies is South Coast Insurance, and another is SafeRoad insurance. How do I know if these are reliable insurance, and are these safe to get? I just got my permit, so what would be the best insurance for me? Thanks!

autoinsurance.noneto.com - try this one. I personally have their car insurance, cause it is the cheapest for me in our area.

A good place would be to go to the local body shop and find out what insurance companies they find they often are working with. Also check with your state's department of insurance website and see what sort of factors or functions they identify to help you identify good local insurers in your area. It's important to know that your company is safe, and is reliable, and has plenty of resources behind it. So you may want to check its financial strength rating, what sort of pool of money they have available in the event of a catastrophe

Bottom line is will the company pay your claims? I'm surprised the insurance people here who have not mentioned Best's Rating. Best's is the industry standard for measuring an insurance companies strength and record for paying claims. You want at the very least a three star company "Triple-A". I want a "Triple-A plus" company but I'm picky. Your agent should be able to tell you and/or look it up online and show you. And as for agents, your best bet is an independent agent who writes for several companies. Or best of all, a broker who is the only one who works for the insured.

You and only you alone can determine exactly what type of coverage is best for you, and what you can afford. Insurance is like a lot of other things....you get what you pay for. There are some good tips at Edmunds and you can check insurance company credit ratings at the Standard and Poor's web site. Always check the background of the company before you commit to a policy.

A.M. Best rates them; you look for B- or better. and you can call the state Department of Insurance. what you're seeing is not insurance COMPANIES but AGENCIES; they broker many different companies and the agency may be good and honest or a bucket shop out to slide all they can get. Call your local BBB, but there is no guarantee; When you get a quote, ask what it includes, and make sure you know what the actual state required coverages are-there's no state that reqires towing, legal services, accidental death, or hospitalization as a specific policy separate from your auto insurance. (but to finance, which agencies are not reqired to do but offer as a courtesy, they can reqire more coverages) so ASK ASK ASK.

You go to a rating company, like AM Best for example, at http://www.ambest.com/ where you find neither of the companies you mentioned are even on the rating list.

I'd suggest you talk to your parents about being added to their policy. If you are under 18 that is your only real option, and also the least expensive.

Also, with a permit you won't be driving alone, and won't need insurance coverage until you actually have a license.

The $15-$17 per month is a ploy to get you into their offices. It never turns out that you only pay so little unless you've been driving for numerous years and have no issues on your record and minimal coverage.

You can go online and get a quote from numerous carriers, then pick the one that's best for you.

You will never know if any company is reliable See what has happened to all the so called biggest financial institution, banks and companies like enron and many more

There is no reliable source to get this information

I am in the same situation like many millions like you

Review your sates department of insurance Web site as most of them keep track of complaints from specific companies. AM best is also a good place to look as this company offers an independent rating of insurance companies.

In the USA insurance companies are rated. look at ratings on A.M. Best and J.D. Powers. There are other raters too.

I chose a company that has not had a lawsuit filled against them in over 30 years.

Any Insurance Company only as good as the agent who is quoting your coverage.

All Insurance Companies must be reliable to be licensed to do business.

All you need to do ask questions. What are the coverages I will be getting, if I do business with you? What are the exclusions?

Remember, no matter what company you decided to buy,you are getting only a 6 month or 1 year contract. After this period, all bets are off.

Regardless you renew with the same company, or change company, you are buying a brand new contract. Ask questions, and buy the one best serves your needs.
