During the colder seasons, if it applies to where you live, what happens to your insurance? Does the insurance provider or carrier extend the policy or what?

my insurance is in effect year round. i've been known to go for a putt when it's in the mid-20's...much to the chagrin of the old lady. as long as the roads are bone dry, i'll take it out for a few miles.

Insurance companies take that into account when they determine the premium that they charge you. Your policy will cover you all year long (if its an annual policy). Some people cancel their policies during the winter and start up again in the summer. Alot of motorcycle insurance companies offer a renewal credit to keep people from doing that.

Plus, if you cancel in the winter, you'll have no theft coverage (if you did have it in the first place)

Nothing happens to the insurance. It has nothing to do with climate.

Most insurance companies have done away with the "sunny day policy" and just insure the bike year round.

If you borrowed money to buy the bike and it has a note with a lien holder, then you must carry some insurance on the bike. When the cold weather hits and the bike gets parked, you keep paying for the insurance.

If you live in an area that gives you a 6 month riding season, and your insurance agent quotes you and annual policy amount, then your are paying the annual amount for 6 months use.

Some insurance companies will let you take the public liability part off when the bike gets parked, but you still have to pay the comp

I keep mine year-round. I don't want to be uninsured if I decide to go for a ride on a clear January day.

I live in Ohio and I have a 7/5 plan. That is for 7 months starting in March I have full coverage on the bike. For the other 5 months when its suppose to be in storage, it automatically has fire and thief only. It saves me about 35% over a full 12 month plan.

Some ins. companies have 9/3 plans while others have 12 month plans only. It just depends on the insurance company.

I have a ZRX1200 and it runs me about $150 a year for the the 7/5 plan.
